Let's look at what dance styles you could spend the evening trying together...

What is Social Dancing?
It is important to know what sort of 'style' of dancing you will be learning. On the popular TV show 'Strictly' the couples dance Competitive Ballroom. The style Louise will be teaching you is something called Social Ballroom and there are differences:
Competitive Ballroom focuses on being judged on technical precision, poise and adherence to strict rules. The goal is to achieve a high score and impress the judges.
Social Ballroom focuses on having fun, connecting with the music and your partner, and enjoying the overall experience.
This style is to be 'felt' rather than 'watched' and the steps will be simpler and lean on the authentic motions of lead and follow.
Social and Competitive Dancing have the same styles but the steps are slightly different. Louise can teach you:
- Foxtrot - big band fun and smooth and gliding - think Fred and Ginger!
- Waltz - graceful, slow and a great one to start with as not as challenging.
- Ballroom Tango - dramatic and passionate with strong fun moves - expressive and packs a punch
- Argentine Tango - intellectual and deep - a very unique and creative dance that is not as dramatic or fierce as the style you see on Strictly. Louse teaches the beautiful 'Social Tango.
- Cha Cha - A fun Latin dance that is fun and energetic with great rhythms.
- Rumba - A slow and romantic Latin dance. Translates really well to any party dance floor. Very popular.
- Samba - lively and fast! Quick foot work that's very rhythmic.
- East Coast Swing - a smooth, relaxed 'swingy' dance with cool combinations and lots of turns.
